About NV Energy Power Outages
NV Energy covers most of Nevada's population, including Las Vegas valley (Nevada Power heritage) and northern Nevada including Reno (Sierra Pacific heritage). Monsoon thunderstorms, extreme heat, and Sierra wind/snow are different restoration problems under one brand. A rural co-op may still serve some counties.
Users do not pick NV Energy. We total power reports from states where NV Energy appears. We are not NV Energy.
How to Report a NV Energy Outage
Open nvenergy.com outages or the NV Energy app on cellular data and enter the service address. Report by phone or app. Southern and northern maps can differ; use the view that matches the bill. ETRs come from NV Energy, not from this page.
Why NV Energy Power Goes Out
In Nevada, Las Vegas (Nevada Power) and northern Nevada (Sierra Pacific) under NV Energy, an electric outage is usually local distribution, not a collapse of the bulk grid. Typical NV Energy patterns:
Microbursts and lightning take laterals down in a few square miles while the Strip stays on.
Prolonged 110°F stretches stress pad-mounted and overhead transformers.
Reno-Tahoe and rural northern circuits ice and blow down on a different calendar than Vegas.
NV Energy may de-energize high-risk lines during red-flag conditions independently of storm damage.
Before You Call NV Energy
- Open NV Energy current outages or the NV Energy app.
- Search the Las Vegas or northern Nevada address on the bill.
- See whether neighbors on the same transformer are dark.
- Report in the NV Energy app if the map has no event.
- In monsoon floodwaters, stay away from pad-mounted gear.
