AT&T internet outage and broadband disruption — ISP connectivity issues

AT&T network at a glance

Primary technology: AT&T Fiber (FTTH) and AT&T Internet (legacy copper/IPBB in some areas). Listed in 21 states in our provider table.

Official status: AT&T Outage Information

How this number is built: last-24-hour internet reports from cities in states where AT&T appears on our internet provider list. Users do not pick an ISP. Other brands in the same state can share this total.

About AT&T Internet Outages

AT&T home internet is not one network. AT&T Fiber is an optical line to the home; if fiber is down, the cause is usually a cut, a failed ONT, or a central-office/OLT issue. Older AT&T Internet (IPBB/DSL-family) still uses copper in some neighborhoods and fails differently — distance, wet pairs, and cabinet power. Treat “AT&T outage” as fiber vs copper before you assume a nationwide AT&T collapse.

AT&T Fiber outages are often very local (a distribution fiber) while a backbone incident can hit many cities at once. We list both “AT&T” and “AT&T Fiber” rows from our provider table. Reports are still generic internet reports from those states.

How to Report a AT&T Outage

Use the myAT&T app on cellular data or AT&T’s outage page. Fiber customers should check the ONT lights (PON/LOS). Copper customers should check the gateway DSL/broadband light. AT&T support can run a line test remotely; have your account phone number or fiber ID ready.

Why AT&T Internet Goes Down

In AT&T service areas, connectivity still depends on fiber backhaul, local plant, power at cabinets, and your in-home gateway. Common causes:

Infrastructure damage

A fiber cut or damaged coaxial plant can drop an entire node even when household power is on.

Weather

Wind, lightning, flooding, and ice take down aerial plant and knock out powered amplifiers.

Core / routing

DNS, CMTS/OLT, or backbone errors can look like “the internet is down” with no local cable cut.

Power at the node

Your lights can stay on while the neighborhood AT&T cabinet is dark.

The 5-Minute Check Before You Call AT&T

  1. Confirm the gateway WAN/online light, not only Wi-Fi.
  2. Unplug the gateway 30 seconds, then wait for it to resync.
  3. Test a laptop on Ethernet. If wired works, the outage is Wi-Fi.
  4. Ask a neighbor on the same ISP. Same failure points to plant, not one modem.
  5. Open AT&T Outage Information on cellular data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a AT&T outage right now?

4 internet outage reports in the last 24 hours These are user internet reports from states where we list AT&T. Reporters do not choose an ISP, so this is not a confirmed AT&T outage. Below 20 reports we do not call it widespread.

How do I report a AT&T outage?

Use the myAT&T app on cellular data or AT&T’s outage page. Fiber customers should check the ONT lights (PON/LOS). Copper customers should check the gateway DSL/broadband light. AT&T support can run a line test remotely; have your account phone number or fiber ID ready.

Where can I check official AT&T status?

Use AT&T Outage Information on the AT&T website or app. US Outage Tracker - Daily is independent and is not AT&T.

Why might this count include other ISPs?

Users report an internet outage by city, not by brand. We total those reports from states where our provider list includes AT&T. The same city can also have Spectrum, AT&T, Cox, or Verizon Fios.

This AT&T outage page is an independent snapshot of user internet reports. AT&T and related marks are trademarks of their owners. For restoration times, use AT&T Outage Information.
