About TrackOutages

TrackOutages is an independent website for people in the United States who have lost power, gas, internet or water and want to know two things quickly: is it just me, and who do I call?

Each city page shows how many people reported the same kind of outage there in the last 24 hours, lets you add your own report in one click, and names the company that actually handles outages for that city. We cover 337 cities across all 50 states.

Where the information comes from

  • Outage counts are reports submitted by visitors on this site. A visitor can report the same city once every 30 minutes and up to eight times a day, and we do not add estimates to these counts. How our outage reports work explains the limits.
  • Electric and water utilities are listed city by city. We check which utility owns the lines or pipes in each city, including city-owned utilities and co-ops, rather than naming the largest company in the state. The tables were last reviewed in September 2026.
  • Internet providers are listed by state, with notes on how each network is built and where it posts outage notices. The FCC National Broadband Map is the source for which providers serve a specific address.
  • Official public data on state and city pages, such as electric reliability, broadband availability, drinking water systems and storm history, comes from the EIA, the Census Bureau, the FCC, the EPA and NOAA. Each figure names its source.
  • Planned outage notices announced by utilities and internet providers are checked on the provider's own website or official channel before we add them, with a link to that source.
  • Weather on city pages comes from Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service.

In short, the site combines two kinds of information: reports collected from people on this site, and data that does not come from users, taken from official public sources and from what providers publish themselves.

Who runs TrackOutages

TrackOutages is owned and operated by EPTASOFT LTD, a software company registered in England and Wales (company number 17038547). The same team builds the site, maintains the public data behind each page and reviews corrections.

  • Registered address: 61 Bridge Street, Kington, Herefordshire HR5 3DJ, United Kingdom

How pages are maintained

Official figures are taken from the agency releases named on each page and refreshed when a new release comes out. Provider listings are checked against each company's own website. Planned outage notices are added only after we confirm them at the provider's source. Every data section shows when it was last checked.

Corrections

If a city page names the wrong utility, or a detail about a provider is out of date, email us at info@trackoutages.com with the city and what should change. We check the correction against the utility's own website and update the page.

How the site is funded

TrackOutages is free to use and paid for by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what a page says, which utility it names, or how reports are counted.

What we are not

TrackOutages is not a utility and is not affiliated with any electric, gas, internet or water company. We cannot see inside a utility's systems, dispatch crews or give restoration times. For an outage at your address, contact the utility named on your bill. For downed power lines, a gas smell, fire or flooding, call 911.

Practical help that applies everywhere is in our guides for power, natural gas, internet and water outages. Questions about the site go to the contact page.
